Cheeky Monkeys

August 28, 2012 by Beth Meyer

One of the things to do in Ubud is visit the Sacred Monkey Forest. We decided to head over (removing all jewelry and sunglasses prior so the monkeys didn’t snatch them up) and see these cheeky little monkeys up close. Note to those planning to visit – make sure to purchase a bunch of bananas at the entrance, but don’t be surprised when the chunky lurker hanging around the front steals them all from you. Danielle and I both had monkeys jump up on us to get the last of our bananas. Check out Tubs below. Greedy lil’ bastard got away with half of our bananas.

While we were walking around the Monkey Forest, we saw a unsuspecting monkey quietly sitting in the middle of the sidewalk when all the sudden a larger monkey came up from behind to have “relations” with said monkey. It was one of the most disturbing and fascinating things I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately for you readers, I wasn’t quick enough with the camera to capture the magic. Ha!

There isn’t a whole lot per se to do in the Monkey Forest. Commence statue photo shoot below.

On our way out, I stopped to sit and take a picture of the little guy below. He had other plans…
