Naughty Nuri’s

August 26, 2012 by Beth Meyer

On Sunday morning we hopped in a cab and headed inland to Ubud. Ubud is regarded as the cultural center of Bali, surrounded by rice paddies and a much slower paced atmosphere than that of Seminyak or Kuta. Ubud is also where Elizabeth Gilbert spent her time in Bali during Eat, Pray, Love.

Due to the slower pace of Ubud, we thought it’d be the perfect place to rent mopeds. On practice run number two, I was turning around in the gravel going downhill and next thing you know, I’ve just about crashed into the fence. Nuts!! Perhaps, second time’s a charm?!

We wasted NO TIME heading to Naughty Nuri’s Warung for the ribs and dirty martini that Anthony Bourdain raved about. Holy moly. Now, I’m not a big martini drinker, but the ‘best martini outside New York City’ I HAVE to try. It probably was the best martini I’ve ever had (not that I’ve had a lot) but it was a real delight. Now, as for the ribs…OH MY GOSH! I don’t even know if words can describe the deliciousness that I consumed. I may have to let the photos speak for themselves…and yes, I am licking my fingers clean. You would too.
