Honeymoon for One

September 6, 2012 by Beth Meyer

On my last night in Bali, I decided to splurge and use SPG points to stay at the W Bali. Sure, I may have been on a honeymoon by myself, but it was the BEST.DECISION.EVER!! I had an ocean facing view, welcome snacks, a magnificent king sized bed, a fluffy bathrobe and the best tub and shower.

I took an extraordinarily long bubble bath, followed by a shower (hello, rain shower head!!) before getting ready for the evening. After staying mainly in hostels for the past two months, having my own shower, let alone a giant bathtub, felt like heaven.

I really love staying in hostels. You meet so many great people and you get so many tips on the cities and activities, but it can be exhausting (and gross) at times. Sharing a dorm with 4-8 other people (especially when you get lucky enough to have snorers…note sarcasm), constantly locking up your things, etc.

It was so great spreading out all of my things and having my own huge room, even if it was just for one night. I felt like such a princess.

I enjoyed a delightful Summer Garden Martini from the Woo Bar at the W before heading over to check out the Potato Head Beach club (a short walk down the beach next door) where I had the Millionaire Martini (a reco from my waiter at Woo). Finally I was tired and hungry and decided room service was in order.

(cocktails at Woo Bar; Potato Head Millionaire Martini – drank from right to left; room service)

Danielle came and joined me for breakfast in the morning and some pool time (perhaps a bit too long because we were rushing to catch our flight, opps!). The W Bali was such a great splurge!

(morning view from room; cabana breakfast; W Pool fun x3; Summer Garden Martini #1; Danielle does NOT like gin)

Honeymoon for one! I love that title. It’s always good to have a self indulgent splurge from time to time. Just a simple upgrade can uplift the travelling spirits.

Love the blog, kind regards, Si
