Columbia Road Flower Market

September 28, 2014 by Beth Meyer

I’ve recently moved into a new flat in London, but while I was searching, I stayed with a friend and her three housemates for two weeks. I wanted to get them a plant or flowers to include in my thank you gift basket, so I decided to make a trip to the famed-London Columbia Road Flower Market.

I’ve heard such great things about the flower market, but had yet to make the effort to visit. I don’t have as green of a thumb like my mom, but I love flowers and gardening. Back when I lived in California, my roommate Amanda and I had a pretty thriving patio garden.

The Columbia Road Flower Market is open every Sunday from 8am until around 3pm. They have a great selection of cut flowers, potted flowers, plants, bulbs and shrubs. Everything I saw was very reasonably priced. It was such a gorgeous, sunny London Sunday morning that I walked up and down Columbia Road four times because I really enjoyed looking at all the flowers, and I’m indecisive and couldn’t make decisions about what to buy without buying everything!!

I settled on a pretty bunch of sunflowers and a red pepper pot as part of my thank you gift. I can’t wait to go back to get more plants for my new flat, and also to explore more of the cute shops located along Columbia Road behind the flower market.

The next Sunday morning you find yourself looking for an activity, Columbia Road Flower Market is a great way to spend a morning.

The flower market is awesome. I found it a little too busy and crowded with not too much space to move but really I only went the once, I should of visited again. Some great cafes around though
