Hi y’all! I’m Beth.
A trained pastry chef, food stylist, food & travel writer and former event planner (though I still dabble from time to time!).
I was born and raised in Atlanta and will always be a Georgia Peach at heart. In 2005, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in event marketing where I worked on both the client and agency side for eight years.
In 2012, I put all of my stuff in storage and set off to explore the world for a year with my best friend. After a round-the-world adventure spanning eighteen countries and four continents, I landed in London, for what was supposed to be two-month visit. Two months turned into nearly three years.
While in London, I attended pastry school at Westminster Kingsway College where I received my City & Guilds IVQ Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Food Preparation and Cookery Supervision and International Patisserie Diploma. Phew, say that five times fast. 😉
During my pastry course, I did work experience for sister restaurants sushisamba and Duck & Waffle and chocolatier William Curley. Following graduation, I worked under former French Laundry Head Pastry Chef Claire Clark, MBE, and her business partner Sarah Crouchman at Pretty Sweet London, a high-end patisserie catering company.
You can find some of my favorite things about London HERE. Despite my love of the country, three years living in London confirmed that while I might have picked up new phrases, my British accent will always be terrible. Probably due to my relentless desire to spread y’all to as many Brits as possible!
In April of 2016, I repatriated back to the States and back to the City of Angels. Following a women’s chef conference, I began working with Chef Sherry Yard at her new LA restaurant, The Tuck Room Tavern. Even though she’s from New York, and I’m from the South, we’re kindred spirits in many ways and it was a joy to work alongside such a talented chef.
Just before the holidays, I left the restaurant world to dive into more event catering, food styling, pastry pop-ups and my new #BakingWithBeth recipe series.
When I’m not in the kitchen, I enjoy a nice glass of wine, a good book and planning my next trip for exploration and (pastry) inspiration! I’m a sucker for a pretty sunrise or sunset and a good view. If you can combine the two, well, it’s one of my favorite things!
Get in touch! Would love to connect either in person, or virtually. I’m always down to meet for a glass of wine or a chocolate chip cookie and trade travel stories, recipes, the latest fun fact you might have learned on a podcast, or general musings on life! 🙂
